More Alaska photos!
Thought I'd share some pictures over the next few days from our recent trip......These are from the little town of Talkeetna, (the TV show Northern Exposure was based on this town)....we stopped on our way up to Denali National Park, and Healy AK where we stayed for 2 nights. On a clear day Mt. McKinley was visible from the shots by the water; however, it was cloudy and a little rain began to fall as we were leaving Talkeetna! ....notice the huge John Deere motor ...in front of Doc....used to run the ice cream maker at the Wake Shake:)

We're HOME!
What a fabulous time we all had being together and visiting what turly is God's country. We visited some amazingly beautiful places, tried some new and "lifethreatening activities" ( a quote from one of our group!) met a lot of nice people, logged a lot of miles on our rented suburban, laughed hard, ate too much (mostly good food), saw lots of wildlife.....we're still waiting to see a bear, rode boats, planes and saw trains, hiked for miles, played lots of cards at night, etc...... This was going to be the trip of a lifetime for all of us, but I think we all agree that we will be going back to Alaska some day. We put over 1700 miles on the car and only touched a very small part of Alaska, there's so much more to be seen. Thanks for following us to the "last frontier".

Iditarod Marker in Seward
At one time the Iditarod started here. 998 miles Seward to Nome. There were many memorial plaques, benches, markers around this area which is now a walking trail in the city. The Iditarod begins in Anchorage now but still finishes in Nome, with the race starting the first Saturday in March each year.

Moose Pass (pop. 61) and our luxury cabin
Moose Pass Alaska! We're here for our last 4 nights. Lots of sea planes in and out on the lake right across the road from our cabin. Very quiet and secluded little town halfway between Seward and Hope. We're heading back into Seward today for Alaska Sea Life Center Tour, civilizatin, shopping and dinner in town! Heading back to Ohio late tomorrow....Can't believe how FAST these 2 weeks have gone and how much we've seen and done, but when you look at the map, we've only seen a thumbnail of Alaska. We WILL be back.... more later........

Small bear footprint in mud on trail
Not the best photo just a quick one taken with my phone, but it is a bear print (small bear) we saw on our hike a little bit ago. We saw several other bear prints, some moose prints, bear scat, and maybe some wolf/lg dog?? prints along this trail.
