Whale pictures from the Big Boat to show Tyler!!

After a slight mix up on Monday with Captain Riddle...his son Brendan took us out on a different vessel to whale watch on Tuesday morning....which turned out to be a much nicer day!  It was a great 2 hour trip!  We also saw Harbour Seals and porpoises!  The whale with no dorsal fin is Slice...a 30' whale that has been returning to the Bay of Passamaquoddy for the last 5 seasons.  It is still early for the whales, here in Maine....very abundant in July - late September, these are Minkie Whales that we saw.....

Greetings from Lubec, Maine

Quick note before breakfast, and a re-scheduled whale watch boat tour leaving from Campobella, Canada in the Provence of New Brunswick......photo is a file photo of the East Quoddy Lighthouse we hiked out to and up on at low tide yesterday.  Located in the Passamaquoddy Bay and built of wood in 1829.  still operational now, but fully automated....We also saw 2 small whales in the bay as well as toured the Roosevelt House.

I have not been able to post any photos from my iPhone or iPad for the last 3 days or so.  We were without any cell phone service/reception and no Wi-Fi while staying in Millencoket Maine ( Sat/Sun) where we rafted the upper and lower halves of the Penobscot River in a full day trip Sunday.  Very exciting white water, mostly class IV's with 3 class V's on the upper and the rest class III rapids.  We rafted with The North Coast River Company.... awesome guys/guides.... with Tyler a class V river kayaker/videographer.  We stayed in a 3 bunk bed, log cabin right on the shore of Rainbow Lake.  We were set.... the cabin had running water, electricity, shared bathroom/showers in a separate outbuilding, and a table to play cards on...unfortunately it also had mosquitoes and black flies that were VERY HUNGRY. We had a package deal with Big Moose Inn...lunch on the river of course....but it also included our breakfast and dinner the day we rafted and breakfast yesterday before we left.

Monday we drove for about 6 hours to Lubec Maine, the eastern most city in the USA.  We are staying an absolutely immaculate gem of a B&B here; The Peacock House, 7 magnificent bedrooms and a top notch hostess! But no cell service....you either get no service, Canadian service or International service, so all our phones are off except Mark's.  We do have Wi-Fi here, so I'm hoping to get photos off the SLR and onto the iPad so I can post a few before we leave at 8:30 or so this morning.

Heading to Acadia National Park today for 3 nights....lots of hiking and fun things to explore there plus a washer and dryer.....our wet rafting clothes are beginning to REEK!!!
