8 Days......

"Baby steps".....that's how I'm approaching preparing to leave my house and pets for the 2 weeks we will be in Alaska.  I have never been away for so long before and it's very scary for me.  Today I made and froze 96 meals for the dogs, (wanted not to have to cook for them right after I get back home) so 4 meals/day = enough for 24 days + what I already have in the freezer, we're good for at least a month, shopped for dog treats for our dogs and Johann (Kent and Val's dog), bought cat food and litter for the 4 cats, grain and shavings for Andrew are back at the barn (picked those up Tuesday on my way from babysitting at Mel's.) Just waiting for the year's supply of hay to be cut, baled and delivered, which may or may not happen before we leave.... I still need to get more birdseed for my feeders and show Matt how to make hummingbird sugar/water....but all in all I think the pets are in good shape.  So my biggest concern, my pets.....seems to be under control.  My flowers are all planted, beds weeded and mulched, shrubs and trees trimmed.  Matt will have to water the flowers daily ...when he fills the birdbaths!   I still need to get gas for the tractor, as Matt will have to mow for us while were gone. Mark did finally get through the whole back field behind the horse pasture, although it was still really wet way back there ......we said we should have just cut and baled that whole field, the grass was soo long and thick!!   Matt will have it a little easier mowing if he keeps up with it ALL.  Whew....all this preparation is exhausting..............
