The 14 story copper mill that the towns of Kennicott and McCarthy were built around. We toured the abandoned mill and some of the remaining Kennicott Mining Company's buildings that were still standing. So very interesting...such history from 1911, unbelievable what those people back then did in the conditions of Alaska. Trying to catch up on the blog while we have internet. Leaving here (Valdez) in 8 hours for the very small remote town of Moose Pass. Went on a 9 hr Prince William Sound boat tour today, saw tons of Bald Eagles, sea otters, sea lions, Pacific Porpoises, Puffins and 2HUMPBACK WHALES!! Will try to get photos down loaded and a few up before we leave in the morning........
